Italy's premier denim mill & the pinnacle of the luxury selvedge denim industry.

In 1938 in Robecchetto con Induno, a small town between Milan & the Italian Alps, Luigi Candiani's namesake selvedge denim mill laid its roots as a producer of a single type of cotton workwear fabric. Today, this family-run, community-staffed mill produces over 20,000,000 meters in 300 unique variations within one of the world's greenest and most sustainable production processes. Over 80 years and 4 generations later, Candiani has come a long way to being celebrated as respected and sought-after crafters of the world's most refined denim fabrics.

Sustainability, innovation and 'Made in Italy' are the founding principles on which we build our entire vision. ”

Shaped by the Territory

The mill is located in the Parco del Ticino Natural Reserve, an area that has always been renowned for its rich biodiversity. Due to the many regulations implemented in the Natural Reserve, Candiani has had to adapt with innovative solutions that protect and benefit the surrounding environment.

Certifications & Organic Cotton Commitment

Candiani has continuously challenged and redefined industry standards in sustainability, cementing itself as a leader in developing new, more transparent, innovative, and eco-friendly ways of producing denim.

From raw material to final selvedge denim fabric, industry certifications ensure that every step of production adheres to sustainability standards, including in it use of organic cotton. Grown without chemicals, fertilizers, or pesticides, Candiani’s cotton is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)—the top recognized certification for organic textiles. Furthermore, their production system recycles and reuses all cotton waste, underscoring their commitment to sustainability.

Our denim of the future will be green, regenerated and regenerative: it won't pollute and, when disposed of, will have a positive impact on the environment. ”

Conscious Craftsmanship

At every step of production, Candiani is able to directly oversee and ensure sustainable craftsmanship thanks to the vertically integrated structure it has implemented. The mill continuously works to maximize the traceability and transparency of its supply chain, resulting in the world’s most eco and socially conscious selvedge denim jeans.

Moreover, practices like 100% cotton recycling, intensive water management, and advancements like the development of compostable denim has culminated in Candiani’s designation as the world’s greenest denim producer.
